Non-Certified Lessons

Non-Certified sailing lessons gives you the opportunity to learn new skills in a less structured atmosphere or to brush up on skills that haven’t been used in a while.

Each session will include approximately two hours of classroom type instruction and four to six hours of on the water instruction.

SESSION 1: Basic Sailing
Classroom Instruction:
  • Parts of the Boat
  • Sailing Terminology
  • How boats sail


On-the-Water Instruction:
  • Point to point sailing
  • Tacking/Gybing
  • Knots
  • Reefing systems


SESSION 2: Basic Sailing
Classroom Instruction:
  • Seamanship and Safety
  • Pre-sail equipment checklist
  • Basic diesel and electrical systems checklists


On-the-Water Instruction:
  • Rotation of skipper and crew responsibilities
  • Man overboard drills
  • Docking practice


SESSION 3: Introduction to Cruising
Classroom Instruction:
  • Rules of the Road
  • Basic Navigation
  • NASBLA Rules


On-the-Water Instruction:
  • Sail overnight and anchor
  • Ship channel travel
  • Emergency Tiller practice
  • Man overboard


Cost: $100 per session per sailor (max 4 sailors) plus a Full Day Charter of Blanca Luna $632 (includes lunch, soft drinks and water)

Or on your boat: $100 per session per sailor (max 4 sailors) plus $50 per hour for Instructor/Captain
